There basically always is, but there's not really a plan published (see same project site). I got the idea a lot of the focus at Red Hat these days is to support the AngularJS tooling that Red Hat is working on, but I'm not 100% sure.

Nick from Red Hat (https://github.com/nickboldt) is the biggest committer at the moment for WTP: https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/webtools/who

Specifically for Java EE the following are interesting I think:


Quickly glancing through the commits I don't think even JSF 2.2 (Java EE 7) support has yet be worked on, and certainly not JSF 2.3.

I've bcc'ed the PMC and committers Nick and John. 

@Elson, could you perhaps shed some light on the EE 7/EE 8 support plans for WTP?
