Alexander,

As of this moment “Java EE” is the current and correct name.

What about OpenG, which sounds exactly like it, but obviously cannot be tied to Java EE because we were told 1000 times that Java EE != JEE?

I like JEE (pronounced 'G') too.  However, I would recommend not adding Eclipse as the master brand. If the intent is for JEE to be some type of 'certification' mark, then non-Eclipse implementations will need to be comfortable using it.

FWIW, JEE by itself might be a bit too short.  OpenJEE might be a nice option.

Clever. Then we could simplify it just to JEE, or Jee, pronounced "G". Full name would be just Eclipse Jee. Modern, refers to its history, and simple. No big words with negative connotations like "enterprise", "edition", etc. I like it :)

Thanks a lot Mike. So a name like e.g. OpenJEE would (presumably) only be acceptable if that J doesn't mean Java.

Yes. But it could be a perfectly acceptable brand by itself. E.g. don't make a claim about what any of the letters in "JEE" mean. If you leave it to the imagination of the reader, then I think it's okay. (Again, IANAL)
