Re: [eclipsecon-na-program-committee] CFP page

Hey Jay,
> Martin, if I may, I'd like to address some of your concerns in the paragraphs below because they are really good points. We wanted a track instead of a day for the SWG because last year we spent all of Thursday in the science talks and missed many important talks from the rest of the community. We believe we will minimize this overlap if we spread it across the conference, which might also attract more people. It also gives us the opportunity to have more than six talks.
Regarding the hope for more than six talks, we should ask Mikael about the exact number of slots/talks that we will have at the conference. I am wondering if we are going back to the numbers of previous years (pre-2015) or to the same limited number of talks that we had 2015 (due to the co-location with FOSS4G). Mikael, can you shed some light on this?
> We should also develop good criteria for the PC to judge the science proposals we receive. I don't think it is worth judging them on their scientific merit per se. This isn't a scientific conference. Instead, I think we should focus on things like novelty and relevance to the Eclipse Community as a whole (n.b. - community, not "platform"), among others. I am happy to create a draft minimal set of criteria and share it for further development, if you want.

That would indeed be interesting (at least to me). Just a few ideas or bullet points are fine, I don’t need to formal acceptance criteria catalog… ;-)
Thanks a lot for your help with this, Jay! Much appreciated!
Cheers,
-Martin

I think we should ask to someone from this WG to join the PC as I don't think any of you is involved in it. Do you agree to welcome a new member to the PC? Here is a description for this track as it could be put on the CfP page (thank you Anne ;))

As a result those submissions had a hard time to make it into the program. I guess a special day with a specialized committee would certainly increase the amount of accepted science submissions in the end. Was just my impression from previous years. So I would prefer a special day, if I would be a member of the Science WG… ;-)
