I like the idea. I find it fun and is a
good way to meet new ppl.
You mention only Mondays, does it mean that there is only BOFs on
Mondays this year?

Hi all,
We'd also
like to talk
more about the
Monday
small-interest-group

that Shawn
proposed. If
you need a

it's below in

Do people agree having BOFs starting
right after the sessions is the right
thing to do?
Yes. Especially if the booth crawl receptions after the
sessions
before the BoFs has some drinks and light snacks available (I
think
this was the case in Boston?). Folks might stick around
another hour
for an interesting BoF if they can get a drink and a few
crackers,
then go to dinner.
Regarding dinner BoFs after a normal BoF, its probably a
nightmare to
organize tables at restaurants. But it might be interesting
to offer
some sort of dinner match up roulette. Setup semi-randomly
parties of
4-6 folks interested in a common topic for dinner. Its not
really a
BoF, its a pre-organized lunch table, at dinner.
Perhaps a simple web application that lets people indicate
two things:
- a style of food;
- an Eclipse-y topic of discussion;
the app emails folks before the reception introducing the
4-6
attendees and giving a restaurant recommendation complete
with
directions from the conference and contact information and
nominates a
coordinator. The coordinator can try to get a reservation
for the
(small) group, group goes to dinner, enjoys conversation and
food.

Hi everyone,
As you (hopefully) know, we have a PC Meeting
tomorrow [1]. As I mentioned before, I'll be off-line
for the next week. Ian S has offered to host the meeting
tomorrow at 8:30 PT / 11:30 ET / 5:30 CET. I likely
won't be checking my work email, but if you really need
to get ahold of me you can use my personal email (irbull
@ gmail.com).
Here are a few things that I think should be covered:
- Make sure your friends / colleague / organizations
know about the CfP [2].
- Keynote update
- Invited speaker update (see below for some
information)
- Tutorial ideas
- Earlybird process
- Anything else?
Invited Speaker
- Tim Bray: Shawn mentioned he would reach out
here.
- Docker: I've sent a invitation to Solomon
Hykes. It might be a long shot, but let's keep
our fingers crossed
- Java 8: Gunnar
and Ian are working on this
- Typesafe: Pascal
and Ian are working on this
- Node.js: Andrew
E. offered to help. Please let us know if you
found some leaders in the community that we
could reach out to.
- Build tool in the
web space:
- Cedric
mentioned a few people here. I looked these
people up and I think Jacob
Thronton (bootstrap) [3] and Paul
Irish [4] would be great. Sindre looks
interesting, but he's in Norway.
Have a great week everyone!
Cheers,
Ian
