Re: [eclipse.org-planning-council] Regrets for PC meeting
|
I most certainly won't be able to dial in, here is some input from the
platform.
* Europa Fall and Winter release
No change to what is already committed. Only exception is 3.3.1.1 fall
update, which got nicely integrated into Europa. Thanks to all for helping
the Europa Fall update to only target these few critical bugs.
* Ganymede Milestone Dates
In addition to the early milestone dates, posted on Eclipse project 3.4
plan
(http://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/development/eclipse_project_plan_3_4.html#Milestones)
* Friday Aug. 10, 2007 - Milestone 1 (3.4 M1) - stable build
* Friday Sep. 21, 2007 - Milestone 2 (3.4 M2) - stable build
* Friday Nov. 2, 2007 - Milestone 3 (3.4 M3) - stable build
* Friday Dec. 14, 2007 - Milestone 4 (3.4 M4) - stable build
* Friday Feb. 8, 2008 - Milestone 5 (3.4 M5) - stable build
The platform is anticipating the following later 3.4 deliveries
3.4M6 on March 28 // longer milestone (7 weeks - due to eclipsecon)
3.4M7 on May 2 // shorter milestone (5 weeks)
3.4RC1 on May 16
3.4RC2 on May 23
3.4RC3 on May 30
3.4RC4 on June 6
3.4 declared June 27
Re: moving release dates to wednesday. It is fine for +1 or +2, but for us
(+0) I would prefer staying on Friday targets. Now, we could use some of
the remaining weeks to respond to any critical found in downstream
components, and provide some refresh of the platform.
* User Interface Guidelines
I am all for it, but if something substantial needs to occur in response to
it, then it needs to be planned for early. Currently, the platform plan for
3.4 uses 100% available resources. Doing more to meet UI guidelines mean
that we would have to drop other items. Can we define a due date for these
requirements to show up ?
* Ganymatic
Is it also running the Junit tests ? Who is the buildmaster ?
* Supported Platforms
With the 3.x consolidation mandate, the platform is not going to drop any
running platform (i.e. 1.4). We will continue on adopting more recent ones,
and leverage new functionalities (like annotation processing and compiler
APIs) but this will remain optional (only more functionalites if running on
Java5 or even more on Java6).

Same for me. Won't be in, but will try to call in if available. I will try
to send some inputs based on the agenda in advance.

Hi folks,
It looks like I won’t be able to make it to the PC meeting Tuesday. Too
much going on for our commercial release to get away from the office.
I’ll try to call in, but I don’t have high hopes for the sound quality or
the ability to contribute.
