[eclipse.org-committers] Optional identity verification is now available for Eclipse Foundation committers

Dear Committers,

Optional identity verification is now available for Eclipse Foundation committers.

Committers who choose to participate can verify that the name displayed on their Eclipse Foundation account matches a government-issued identity document. A successful verification adds a verified checkmark to the committer’s Eclipse Foundation account profile.

A few important points:

  • This is entirely optional. There is no plan to make it mandatory.
  • This is not age verification.
  • This does not change project governance, committer elections, project roles, or how anyone contributes.
  • The Eclipse Foundation does not receive or store the images of your identity document or face photo. Verification is handled by iDenfy, and the Foundation stores only the validation certificate returned after a successful verification.
  • You can remove your verified status later from your Eclipse Foundation account page.

More details, including the FAQ and instructions for starting or removing verification, are available in the Eclipse Foundation Project Handbook:
