Yes but in a more generic way. The way I see it is to specify in metadata where the contextual menu should appear.

You are right it worth a closer look however I want to work on the python interpreter I not going to have much time.

Whatever this does might be worth a closer look. Arthur might this be something you had in mind when you were thinking of hooking scripts into context menus?
