RE: [eclipse-pmc] PMC leadership

+1 for McQ - given his deep technical involvement and
understanding, and existing leadership roles, he's the obvious
choice.
It might probably make sense at this point, to use the
opportunity and talk a bit about what the role of PMC leadership means to us. Is
it just calling for meetings and doing the role calls? Or anything else? On the
DSDP project, I have seen Doug Gaff do a lot of representing the project to the
outside (EMO / Mike M., architecture / planning council, conferences, press
interviews, ...). Some incoming requests such as requests for new projects to
get created have also been hitting Doug directly as the PMC
lead.
Philippe, I'm wondering what you've been seeing as your
duties? Given that the Eclipse project is a whole lot more established than DSDP
(and more coherent, with the subprojects more mature), it may be totally
different here. And of course, there is not necessarily a need for the PMC lead
to do all duties personally, he may want to delegate some duties to other
persons...

Dear PMC,
In the near future, I am going to reduce my involvement
in the Eclipse project quite a bit. I am going to remain involved to the
extent I can provide leadership in JDT, but I would rather pass the PMC lead
flag to someone else on the PMC who has more focus.
The new PMC lead will officially be nominated by the
Eclipse Foundation EMO (Mike M.) and ratified by the Eclipse board (bylaws,
Article VII, Section 7.1).
Now, we
need to provide a recommendation for a PMC lead to Mike M.
I would like to suggest the name
of Mike Wilson as the next PMC lead. I have worked closely with Mike in the
past few years, and he has been involved in most leadership discussion
already. To me, he is the obvious choice.
Please comment, argue or even suggest other names...
