Re: [eclipse-ide-wg] Eclipse IDE Working Group Steering Committee Elections Announcement 2025-2026

Hi,

I would like to nominate myself for the Committer Representative seat on the Eclipse IDE Working Group Steering Committee.

I have been involved in the Eclipse ecosystem for over 20 years, providing consulting, training, and conference talks but also as committer on eclipse platform and PDE.

I currently serve as the elected Committer Representative on the Eclipse IDE WG Steering Committee and as an Eclipse Mentor since June 2024.

I am seeking to renew my position to continue bringing my perspective to the committee’s decisions and to help shape the future of the Eclipse IDE and the Eclipse Platform.

Best regards

The Eclipse IDE Working Group identifies its Steering Committee as a key governing body to drive various aspects of the working group for which there are elected positions to be filled.

Platinum and Strategic Members are appointed to the Committee, while the elected positions are designated to represent the Supporter and Committer members. Supporter members and Committer members will each occupy one seat on the Steering Committee.

Through this email, we are announcing that the Eclipse Foundation will hold elections on behalf of the working group using the proposed timetable listed below:

All Members are encouraged to consider nominating someone from a Supporter Member (Broadcom, EclipseSource, and Kichwa Coders Canada Inc.) as well as Committer members from the Eclipse IDE List of Projects. Self-nominations are also more than welcome.  Elections Schedule:
October 8 - 15: Call for Nominations
October 16:  Announce Candidates Standing
October 20 - 27:  Ballots Created/Sent (Voting Period)
October 29:  Announce Elected Candidates

Nominations must be sent to this mailing list indicating related Committee/Seat. We encourage nominees to include a brief bio highlighting relevant experiences. If you are nominating yourself, please provide the details along with your email submission. If you are accepting a nomination made by someone else, kindly share your bio to help the selection process.

When the nomination period is closed, we will inform the working group of the confirmed candidates providing a short bio for each along with their position statement.  At that point, we will distribute ballots via email to those eligible to vote.  The election process will follow the Eclipse “Single Transferable Vote” method, as defined in the Eclipse Bylaws.  The winning candidates will be announced on this mailing list following the close of the election.  Self nominations are more than welcome.

Please let us know if you have any questions.  Nominations are now open!. Best Regards,

Zahra
