| Dear EDWG Specification Committee members,
As announced in our meeting today, unfortunately our current chair, Rajiv Rajani (iSHARE), will be leaving iSHARE and, therefore, his position as EDWG Specification committee chair at the end of this month. I would like to publicly thank Rajiv for his commitment and hard work during the past 3 years serving the community and the EDWG in this position. It has been a pleasure to work together. We wish you all the best in your new career step and hopefully we can cross paths in the future.
This change also means we need to elect a new chair for the EDWG Specification Committee. Gerard van der Hoven has kindly offered himself as replacement. I am hereby opening the floor for additional nominations to the seat. If any other EDWG member is interested in nominating him/herself for the position, please reply to this email with the nomination, no later than October 22nd, EoB.
If no other nominations are received, we will announce Gerard as our new chair. Otherwise, we will call for a vote to elect our new chair in our next Specification Committee meeting in November 5th.
Thank you very much and best regards,
Javier Valiño

PS. I am copying below a summary of the next steps for guidance
Process to Elect the New Chair
1. Eligibility: The candidate for Chair must be chosen from among the current members of the Specification Committee. 2. Interim Management: While the Chair position is vacant, the committee may either continue to operate without a chair or have an Eclipse Foundation staff member (such as the Working Group Program Manager) moderate meetings until the new Chair is appointed. 3. Nominations: Nominations are called and submitted via the working group's public mailing list (dataspace-wg-spec@xxxxxxxxxxx). 4. Voting: The Specification Committee elects the Chair by a simple majority vote of the committee representatives present or represented at a meeting where quorum is met (or via an electronic vote). 5. Executive Director Approval: Once elected by the Specification Committee, the new Chair must be formally approved and appointed by the Executive Director of the Eclipse Foundation.
