Dear Committee members,
Your vote is required to approve the creation of the Eclipse Data Plane Signaling Specification Project with the following scope:
The Eclipse Data Plane Signaling specification defines an interoperable protocol for DSP control planes to communicate with data planes. The scope of the specification includes:
- A protocol for control planes to manage data transfers using a variety of wire protocols, ranging from HTTP-based to streaming event systems.
- A registry of data transfer types so that other projects can define non-clashing identifiers for those types.
The following are out of scope for Eclipse Data Plane Signaling:
- The definition of specific wire protocol formats and data transfer types
- Any data plane implementation
The project proposal can be found
here.
Per the Eclipse Foundation Specification Process, this will be a seven day ballot, ending on October 1 2025 that requires a super-majority positive vote of the Eclipse Dataspace specification committee members (note that there is no veto). Community input is welcome, but only votes cast by specification committee representatives will be counted.
Specification committee representatives, your vote is hereby requested. Please respond with +1 (positive), +0 (abstain), or -1 (reject). Any feedback that you can provide to support your vote will be appreciated.
Warm Regards,
iSHARE.eu : The non-profit federated trust framework for data spaces
