Re: [asciidoc-wg] asciidoc mimetype

Russell,

Yes, this task is stated under the Compliance section of the Roadmap in the Program Plan for 2022.

This task is correlated with the registration of the AsciiDoc trademark and involves participation from Eclipse IP management (since the name has to be defended).

I'd like this task to be tracked in the following issue tracker: https://gitlab.eclipse.org/eclipse-wg/asciidoc-wg/asciidoc-wg/-/issues The original issue can be found here: https://github.com/asciidoctor/asciidoctor/issues/2502#issuecomment-586682598

Hi,

Many years ago there was a discusion about the asciidoc mimetype:

https://discuss.asciidoctor.org/Mimetype-for-Asciidoc-td211.html

and here

https://github.com/asciidoctor/asciidoctor-firefox-addon/issues/42

The Shared Mime Info Spec at

https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Specifications/shared-mime-info-spec/

says, "If you have added types that should go in the common
freedesktop.org base list of types, you should create an enhancement
request on the MIME bugtracker with your new XML file."

Was wonder if an addition request will be made in the future to add
something like below to make it official.

mime-type: "text/asciidoc"
glob pattern: "*.adoc", "*.asciidoc"
