Ok - I managed to connect last night. The webmaster found that his ISP was blocking the IP address of the hotel's wireless router where I am staying. They have removed the block now.
I can start converting some code so we have a base to start from.

Just adding a new connection that uses a different protocol as well,
will work if you already have a pserver connection.
