Eclipse 3.1M4 is released two days after (Dec 17) so this creates a potential problem with immediately becoming outdated. Ideally we should lag Eclipse releases by a week or so, but December is problematic due to Holidays.
To quote Erich Gama : "we freeze development 3-4 days before a milestone. However, when a milestone requires a critical fix which depends on an API change then we will make the API change."
Without critical bug, we can rely on few days to ensure WTP compatibility with Eclipse 3.1M4. WTP M2 could be Dec 22, for example. Doable but hot stuff :-)
For other WTP milestones, it is best to have a week of distance. Then, we have to adopt the 6 weeks milestones rythm of Eclipse 3.1. WTP milestones distance is currently 8 weeks.
