[udig-users] floating point raster

Hi, I'd like to ask if I can import rasters into udig that aren't basic RGB or lookup table images. Use case: I open an SRTM HGT file or floating point BIL file, then I choose the coloring I want, say pseudocolor with sun angle shading, and have it displayed as a layer. I believe GDAL is used by udig but I can't see any formats other than conventional images like jpeg, png etc offered in the add layer dialog. Is there a way to import and color floating point rasters? I have searched the archives for this question. thanks, Todd.
