Re: [udig-users] Raster files (ascii) on udig
|
I already replayed to this email.
Unfortunately the standard replay to the udig users mailing list is to
the sender and not to the list... even if I feel it should be the right
that, I don't like to it, because I have to check every... :)
So the answer is the following:
Hi Laura,
you are right there is any walktrough for JGrass right now, but there
are some instruction to get start with JGrass on the website:
http://jgrass.wiki.software.bz.it/jgrass/How_to_get_started_with_JGrass
here you can find some documentation you probably need to understand how
JGrass works, since you come from an ESRI world. The importing session
is the last part of the chapter...
Once you've created a workspace and imported your map then you can do
anything you need on the dtm and you can find also more advanced
instructions on the JGrass related presentations:
http://jgrass.wiki.software.bz.it/jgrass/Presentations_about_JGrass
Hope this helps,
Ciao

I was hoping to let the JGrass developers answer this; as far as I
know support for the ascii format is available (but is slower then
comparable raster file formats).

Dear Udig users and developers,
is there a way to load raster images, I mean in ascii format, and
to work on them in Udig in an easily way?
I tried to use the jgrass - extension, but since I am a new user,
I use windows XP, I never used GRASS and maybe I am too used
to Arcview, I cannot make it work!
I've been using Arcview at college for 3 years and maybe I am too
used to it. I just would like to perform some map calculations on
a dem, use masks to delimitate areas, nothing special.
But Jgrass does not have any "walkthrough", even if I follow all
the instructions on "Importing an ascii raster" I cannot load
anything.
So is there another way or shall I try some other software for
raster files?
Thanks a lot
laura
