[udig-users] Raster files (ascii) on udig

Dear Udig users and developers,

 

is there a way to load raster images, I mean in ascii format, and to work on them in Udig in an easily way?

I tried to use the jgrass - extension, but since I am a new user, I use windows XP, I never used GRASS and maybe I am too used to Arcview, I cannot make it work!

I've been using Arcview at college for 3 years and maybe I am too used to it. I just would like to perform some map calculations on a dem, use masks to delimitate areas, nothing special.

But Jgrass does not have any "walkthrough", even if I follow all the instructions on "Importing an ascii raster" I cannot load anything.

So is there another way or shall I try some other software for raster files?
