[udig-users] HELP!

Hello,

I am new here. I'd like to learn to use Ugid, at the university I learnt how to use arcview.
I installed it (on windows) and the installation was succesfull,  opened it, I tried to follow the walkthroug number 1 (http://udig.refractions.net/files/docs/uDigWalkthrough1.pdf) which sounds quite easy, BUT I cannot load ANY layer of any kind!
I tried "CONNECTING TO A WEB MAP
SERVER" (page 11) and also I tried to open a shapefile that was on my computer but I always get this error: Problems to connect to the wms server. A reason of this could be: Unresolved compilation problem: The method contains(String) is undefined for the type String
Why? What's up with my u-dig?
