It works.
Thank you.

We need a bit of information about your image in order to know where to draw it on a map. This is mentioned in the user guide on a number of pages:
- http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/EN/World+Plus+Image <http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/EN/Adding+an+image+to+a+map>

But perhaps it is not clear what a "world file" is? Please check over the above pages and email me back if you have any questions.

A few image formats have well known ways of encoding location information into the image "metadata" fields.
- a TIFF image with spatial metadata is known as a GeoTIFF

How do I add a layer that contains a image?
If I do "Add", data source "File" and I select a image I receive the error "unable to recognize service, choose another".

However I can add images from the sample data archive - http://udig.refractions.net/docs/data-v1_1.zip. But if I move the image from the directory where I unpacked the archive and I try to import it again I receive the same error. There must be something in that unpacked directory that allows me to import the image.

So, if I have a new project, with a new map in it, how can I create a layer with a image in this map?

Thank you.
