Hello all this is my first post in this list.

Is there anyone who has experience in deploying UDIG in a school computer lab and using it as a tool to teach GIS. Issues of interest to me are the following:
1. Minimum hardware specification
2. Improving responsiveness of UDIG
3. Use shapefiles or postgis
4. Any other issues I should consider
