Sounds good; collaboration as usual would be at the geotools level 
(build up the low level api). With visualization rendering ui stuff at 
the udig level. I will check out the proposal when I get a chance after 
work.

I also found the *one* class you can help collaborate on so that you can 
use geotools referencing in open jump; stop by #geotools and we can chat 
about it :-)
