The Tips and Tricks state that a line feature can be extended using the line edit tool by clicking on an end vertex and then extending the line.
This doesn't seem to work for me when I try it on the BC rivers shapefile. I can indeed select a vertex using double click (it becomes yellow) and sometimes I manage to have a line dangling from it but in this case clicking somewhere else doesn't create a line to this point.
Please check if behaviour is as expected. I don't know if this is fixed in RC0 and cannot check currently.
