Re: [tycho-dev] Plan for tycho surefire plugin

The challenges of http://bugs.eclipse.org/388909 are related to the Tycho extensibility story. As long as http://bugs.eclipse.org/353889 isn't fixed, there are no good solutions. I know that it is possible to hack around the existing problems, but I don't like all this. And IMHO it is also not worth the effort - there is a POC for 353889, and unless we discover any new major problems, this could be integrated early in Tycho 0.18.0-SNAPSHOT.

tycho-surefire enhancements, in particular http://bugs.eclipse.org/380171, heavily rely on Tycho's integration with surefire. As discovered in http://bugs.eclipse.org/386481, the current solution blocks us from adopting new maven-surefire version. For me, this structural problem is more important than any of the proposed enhancements because it will kill us eventually if we can't solve this. I've updated http://bugs.eclipse.org/386481 with ideas how the problem could be addressed.

Tobias
