Hi Phil,
as creator of the poll think we as committers have to hide the results, then also contributor can vote.
Got the same problem with another contributor, seems every committer has the permission to show the votes/results, so if the committers want to see the current state of the voting, we
have to make sure to hide it afterwards so that also others can vote on the poll.
For me I did not find a way to prevent this behavior:

Cheers Fabian

thanks for the quick replay.
The question was more about voting in the
GitHub discussion, but for me, it is also
more than ok to share my opinion there as a comment
😊.
Hi Phil,
thanks for asking!
I am from the automotive PMC and also responsible for having a look on the governance within the automotive group.
Voting for new committers and project leads (they are normally committers as well) is reserved for existing committers and project leads. (see also:
https://www.eclipse.org/projects/handbook/#elections-committer)
Sorry, you can not vote, but feel free to share your opinion.
Best,
Andy

Hey all,
is it possible to open the voting for project contributors as well?
I’d love to vote but sadly can’t, since I’m a contributor.
Alternatively, I’d share my opinion on the topic as a comment in the discussion.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards
Phil Schneider
Hi all,
Just again a little reminder on the open voting:

Hi Everyone,
I am not sure if I will hit your question, but if you also talk about modeling, what about the Eclipse Coffee Editor (https://github.com/eclipse-emfcloud/coffee-editor)
out of the Eclipse modelling framework (EMF)…
Just for thoughts …
Best,
Andy

Are there some more thoughts or suggestions on diagram drawing tools?

Hi,
Within the IRS Team we also used plantUML and have good results.
I never used Mermaid, but we can change if necessary.
Overall it is important that it can be version controlled and is therefore code based.
Viele Grüße,
Johannes

Yes 😊 I’d be also in favor of a version controlled
approach.
Both, PlantUML and Mermaid, support that.
Both tools are good IMO. I think in the end it depends on the use case and needs which tool to use.
I just found this video, may be a good summary:

I would also strongly favor a version controlled code-based approach over a tool like Draw.io for all the reasons stated.
Also, I still want to throw stuff at walls remembering all the time lost on good drawings with Draw.io due to unexplainable session-timeout-non-saviness using it integrated into
browser-based tools in corporate settings :$%&#*
:-P

Hey Guys,
We are also working with plantUML a lot for the same reasons mentioned by Paul. Draw.io is good for non-coding people but couldn’t benefit from a full version control.
We should also remember the current shift of the documentation into KITs and standards, written in Markdown and hosted on the following page with Docusaurus:
https://eclipse-tractusx.github.io/developer
Would also be great to see some integrations there, like an automatic diagram generation via pipeline.
Best regards,
Malte

Folgen Sie uns:
Hey Fabian,
Personally I like plantUML because it is well supported in tools (VSCode, IntelliJ), is highly customisable and it can be easily version-controlled. Don’t know Mermaid, but I’ve used Draw.io
in the past, but just for quick drafts.
I just want start a disscussion about possibilities to draw diagrams as code with open
source tools.
I have already seen some good approches in some of Eclipse Tractus-X repositories.
Do you have already used some kind of tools like PlantUML, Mermaid or something like that?
Do you have an personal favorite that also can be easily used
by all working members within Eclipse Tractus X?
Of course these tools have to be aligned
with allowed open source licences of the
Eclipse Foundation.
So basically can we all align to one (or at least a few) format / tool / option we want to use?
The reason would be to make it easier for everyone to maintain / update diagrams.
What are your thoughts about it?
Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Kind regards
