Re: [tracecompass-dev] Mattermost at Eclipse

Quick update, we now have a bot running in both the IRC and Mattermost channels, so that messages are relayed across. It's a bit confusing at first, it often looks like bots talking to bots :) But I think this setup is really great, it allows people to use their preferred medium yet to be able to talk to everyone.

Once Mattermost becomes more "official" at Eclipse we could start advertising that channel too.

Cheers,
Alex

I hadn't thought of that (IRC bridge)! It's just a test server now though, so if we don't like it we don't have to use it.

About the account, I'm sure it will be using the Eclipse LDAP when (if) it's not a test server anymore.

Good ol'irc!

Nonetheless we could setup a bridge or something between mattermost and irc to allow everyone to have their own work flow and still maintain some form of coherence.

Cheers!

For those who don't already know, we use and have been using the IRC

You will have a hard time getting me out of my mosh + tmux + irssi
setup ;)

Hi,

There is a test server right now for Mattermost at Eclipse, which is
a bit like IRC. One nice thing is that is archives all messages and
it's searchable.
See http://www.mattermost.org/features/
and the Eclipse bug https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=483947

I created a Trace Compass channel in case you want to test it out,
just head to
https://mattermost-test.eclipse.org
You might want to point out that this server is not using the main
Eclipse LDAP, so you should *not* try to login with your standard
Eclipse login. That will not work, and will incidentally transmit your
Eclipse login to the admins of that server. You have to create a new
account.

Alexandre

Thanks,
