Re: [tools-pmc] Third-party usage of the Buildship trademark

Here's a quick update.

We've completed our initial review.

The metric that gets applied in these tests is whether an average person would confuse one for the other.

We believe that an average person would not confuse the other "buildship" for the Eclipse Buildship project (or vice versa). We don't believe we have any reasonable grounds to approach them now.

We will continue the investigation and explore mitigation options.

I am adding Wayne/EMO to this discussion here as I don't believe PMC can do anything about it.

Hi!

I just learned about a tool called BuildShip: buildship.com. This is also the name of our tool that provides Eclipse IDE integration for Gradle: https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/tools.buildship.

IIUC the project names are registered trademarks: https://www.eclipse.org/legal/trademarks. Can we or should we do anything about that?

Best regards,
Donát
