I have found that you need to be careful when using a wizard approach to composite services. A wizard approach will promote treating service patterns as islands and inadvertently substantially increase complexity in your system.

I have a graphical example of this that summarizes Jeb Murphy's Design Experiment illustration.

What about the idea of creating the spring config snipplet in the copy buffer first so the user just pastes it into her config?
That could be an intermediate goal ...

Finally I would vote for alternative 2.
