Re: [sumo-user] Inquiry about train simulation

Yes.  You can simulate timetables, transport of goods and capacity to carry goods.
Caveats:
- the model for splitting up trains and joining them together is meant for portion working of passenger trains. Using it for shunting individual rail cars has not been attempted and is probably quite tedious.
- the model for freight currently doesn't model capacity use of differently-sized goods in a single train. There is only an abstract integer capacity value per train which you can fill up with abstract freight containers where only the number of containers matter.

Dear Sumo community,

I have a question about railway simulation.
Does Sumo have this capability to simulate intercity train operations for freight including timetable and capacity?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Mehdi
