Hi Markus,

thanks for providing this one! One critical point is of course the license especially concerning the OmlFgServer and the accompanying dlls. I am not sure we can distribute those or do you have any information under which terms we could include them?

Best regards,

Michael

Hello Jakob,

thank you for the confirmation, and no problem about the timing.

The code is here: https://github.com/TU-Dresden-VPA/PyLiSuM. I am happy to make any adjustment you need for the submodule integration.

I have also drafted a short description for the LiSuM documentation page (LiSuM - SUMO Documentation):

“A Python-based implementation of LiSuM is available at https://github.com/TU-Dresden-VPA/PyLiSuM. It reproduces the main LiSuM workflow and additionally supports the reception and processing of R.09 telegrams. Usage details are described in the publication [Zhou, M. R.; Krüger, J.; Wang, M. Simulation of DACH-Style Detector-Actuated Traffic Signal Control in SUMO: A Python-Based Platform for LISA+® Logic with Loop Detectors, Push Buttons, Radio Beacons and R09-Telegrams. SUMO Conf Proc 2026, 7, unknown pages].”

Please let me know the next steps for the submodule setup, then I will prepare everything from my side.

Best,

Markus

Dear Markus Runhao Zhou,

I confirm that we are happy to integrate PyLiSuM as a git submodule and I'm personally glad to hear about your desire to continue supporting it.

Sorry for the late reply.

best regards,

Jakob

Dear SUMO developers,

I would like to follow up on my email from 21 July about contributing PyLiSuM to SUMO (see below). Is there any progress or feedback on this?

If you need more information from my side, just tell me. I am happy to prepare whatever is needed for the next step.

Thank you.

Subject: PyLiSuM contribution to SUMO

Dear SUMO developers,

My name is Markus, and I am a researcher at TU Dresden. I presented PyLiSuM, a Python implementation of the LiSuM middleware, at the SUMO User Conference 2026. I am writing to ask whether PyLiSuM could be contributed to the SUMO project.

Repository: https://github.com/TU-Dresden-VPA/PyLiSuM

PyLiSuM is a Python-based middleware for coupling SUMO with LISA+ traffic signal control. In addition to reproducing the main LiSuM workflow, I have extended it to support the reception and processing of R.09 telegrams.

Last year, I discussed the project with Dr. Michael Behrisch. He suggested two possible integration options:

  1. Keep PyLiSuM in our existing repository and integrate it into SUMO as a Git submodule.
  2. Transfer the code directly into the SUMO repository through a pull request.

My preferred option would be the Git submodule approach, as this would allow me to continue maintaining PyLiSuM in our chair’s repository.

Could you please confirm whether this work would be suitable as a contribution to SUMO? If so, I would appreciate your guidance on the next steps, including the preferred repository location, documentation requirements, and any licensing or technical requirements that should be addressed before preparing a pull request.

Thank you for your consideration.
