Hello Daniel,
welcome back ;-)!
Unfortunately (or rather fortunately) the process is not different for
DLR employees. You need to create an Eclipse Account and accept the
Contributor Agreement. Then you do commits (which needs to be signed
off, git commit -s) of your changes to a fork of sumo and open a pull
request against the master branch of eclipse/sumo. Be sure that you use
the same email address at eclipse as well as for the sign off of the
commit. The pull request will be checked automatically whether it
fulfils the legal requirements and whether sumo still compiles when it
is applied. When these checks are (successfully) completed, we will
probably accept it and it is merged into the mainline.
