The SCA builder recently introduced a new concept in SCA Tools, called "SCA signature".
It is used by the builder as a marker attribute which allows any SCA model holder (the model being based on XML DOM, or EMF, or a GMF diagram) to resolve the element associated with a resource marker.
Another use case of SCA signatures could be in STP-IM (and this is why I'm promoting it on this mailing-list).
More precisely, it could be used by the STP-IM builder to track changes made in an SCA model.
One of the problem this builder had with SCA is that unlike BPMN, it is not possible to define IDs for SCA elements (...).
SCA signatures may be a partial solution.
I described SCA signatures on the wiki [0] and added some lines about how the STP-IM builder could use this mechanism to trace changes among models.
