I have never had Windows mangle a file extension like that but I have
certainly found that Winzip does not always gracefully handle stuff from
Unix-land. I keep a copy of Cygwin on my system to deal with this.
As to a proper installer, the requirements are simple enough that I believe
we may be able to do as the Eclipse folks do and make the beast be
self-installing. We would also then provide an uninstall option in the
package (both HUI and commad line).
Hopefully updates can be andled with the Eclipse update facility.
