[stellation-res] Welcome, Introduction, and Ready to Download!
|
Welcome to our new mailing list for the Stellation project. We're
really delighted to finally be open-sourced, and living on eclipse.org.
I'll start with an introduction. My name is Mark Chu-Carroll, and
I'm the founder and technical lead of the Stellation project. I work
for IBM at the T. J. Watson Research Center. I've
been working on Stellation full-time for about two years, and did
some experimental work that led me to it for a bit longer than that.
I'm mainly responsibility for the repository core - the storage backed
system that runs Stellation. In the coming months, once a few
short term problems are fixed, I'll be focusing my attention mainly on
building fine-grained support for Stellation.
I'll let my teammates from the Stellation project introduce themselves.
I've finally got things set up on the CVS server at Eclipse.org. There's
a document on the docs page called "Setting up Stellation in Eclipse"
which explains how to download and set up the system inside of
Eclipse. I've also updated the general installation doc with instructions
for non-Eclipse users.
I've tried setting up by slavishly following the "Setting up" guide,
and it seems to work. If you have any trouble, please send a note to
the mailing list, and we'll do our best to help you and fix the doc ASAP.
I'm using my non-IBM address this weekend, so if you want to get
in touch with me, send a note to markcc@xxxxxxxxxxx. I'll also do
my best to keep an AIM client open when I'm around - you can find
me as SchnozzMark.
