- Spec will overlap with the Cirrus Link Sparkplug Aware Server patent itself, this will open up royalty free access to the patent for the SP Working Group

- Host applications now need to declare a Host ID
- Host applications need to handle out of order messages
- Periodic publishing is not allowed
- Is_historical: if a value is historical, the edge client must declare with is_historical=true
- Data type handling will remain as is in the spec, so the protobuf def doesn’t need to change. CL modules will be updated to handle data types correctly.
- State message can be delivered out of order... need a sequence number in the State message payload to track order. The MQTT Engine module works around this...
