[soc-dev] Hello Eclipse!

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to the group. I will be working with Eclipse dev Yasser Aziza as a mentee for this summer implementing Null-to-Optional refactoring in the Eclipse JDT. I am a masters student at the City University of New York, where I am studying computer science and am working on research on automated refactoring tools under Dr. Raffi Khatchadourian, my graduate advisor.

I am a new Dad and a baseball fan, and an avid gamer (though much less since my son was born 😊).

I am very grateful and excited to be able to participate with you all in contributing to projects at the Eclipse foundation.

Regards,

Oren Friedman

Subject: [soc-dev] Student projects have been announced!

Greetings folks.

Eleven of our projects have been approved. I am hopeful that everybody has received a notification of their status.

The "Community Bonding" period starts today. Mentors, please reach out to your students. Coding is expected to start in mid-May and our next milestone is the first round of evaluations from June 11 - 15, 2018.

Mentors, if there is any risk that you will not be able to complete the evaluations or otherwise meet any of the mentoring obligations, please let me know ASAP so that we can plan accordingly. Missed evaluations threaten our standing as a mentoring organization.

Students, please also keep that deadline in mind.

Please note that real work must be completed before that deadline. I will be looking for proof that real work has been committed.

Congratulations to everybody who was accepted.

Thanks,

Wayne
