Hi Wayne,

I think when students discussing the GSoC ideas, we should encourage (and/or mandate) students to discuss them in the respective Project List and cc the soc-dev@ list as well since it provides opportunity to mentors to evaluate students. 

Otherwise we might not aware about all the communication taken place between students and committers.
