[soa-pmc] Renaming SOA Top Level Project

Gents,

we have been debating this for a while among the SOA projects:

We are intending to rename the SOA top level project to

Enterprise Technologies

Find attached the vote of the project leads.

I would like to announce this change during the closing panel if you don’t have objections.

Thanks,

Marc

to something else. Not because we think SOA is invalid as such, just because SOA as a term is perceived outdated in the community and possibly is only covering parts of what we are doing (depending on how you define SOA).

We had another round of discussions and brainstorming here at EclipseCon 2014 in San Francisco and are proposing to rename the project to

Enterprise Technologies

which is really what we are doing. Plus, the abbreviation (ET) is kinda cute …

I would like to ask you to vote on it quickly, because if we agree the closing panel tomorrow might be an excellent opportunity to announce that change.

Once we have agreed on a name, we would start to maintain the corresponding Wiki page etc.

Thanks,

Marc
