Re: [soa-iwg] ECF remote services in Helios
|
Hi All,
In checking the RC3 EPP package, I detected that there are no source
bundles included in the SOA package. Is this correct?
If so, for the ECF OSGi 4.2 remote services contribution, it would be
highly desirable to include the source bundles in the distribution,
since OSGi remote services examples are java-pojo-based...and so need
source code to be effectively used by consumers as examples.
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Zsolt,
In reviewing the text for rc1 version of soa on the packages page I
don't see any mention of the ECF remote services work as we discussed
in this thread. Is this waiting on me for something?
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Zsolt,
I haven't seen any change to the text on the soa epp download blurb
or the soa home page WRT the ECF remote services work...is there
more/other input waiting on me for this?
BTW, regretfully due to new work commitments I cannot make Wed am
meetings....even every other week as they are now. Could they
possibly be some other morning of the week?
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Zsolt,
For the blurb on the download page, since it is very short, I would
suggest:
ECF's implementation of the OSGi 4.2 remote services standard.
with ECF linked to our home page: http://www.eclipse.org, and OSGi
4.2 remote service linked to our New and Noteworthy page:
http://www.eclipse.org/ecf/NewAndNoteworthy.html
If there is a little more room, then I suggest adding: REST and
SOAP support for OSGi remote services.
Again with REST and SOAP support linked to the New and Noteworthy
page. This could either be of the same sentence or a separate
sentence.
Where there is more space (i.e. on the soa page), I can/will provide
more prose, but I think it would be better to have it fit into the
page-specific context, so let me know where you want to add and how
it's going to fit in with the existing things...and I will provide
you with prose.
The main things to emphasize are:
1) OSGi 4.2 remote services implementation (from ECF)
2) REST and SOAP support for remote services
3) Distributed implementation of standard OSGi EventAdmin for
pub/sub messaging busses.
Thanks,
Scott

Scott,
just make a proposal. I will then ask Markus to update the text for
the download page.
BTW, the SOA build failed because of a stupid mistake, but after
fixing Markus started the build again and hopefully it will be
available in 1 or 2 hours. If so, please test the ECF part and let
me know if everything is fine.

Greetings,
I see that the ECF soa sdk feature is in the EPP M7 build. Thanks
for that.
The SOA package text on the download page doesn't mention
anything, however, about ECF or OSGi 4.2 remote services. Could
something be added to that prose (and on the SOA page) so that
people will know about this standard implementation being now in
the package? Please?
Thanks,
Scott
