Frankly, I don't see your point. We welcome your participation as an individual, but the IWG can't consider Composent, Inc. as a participant as long as Composent, Inc. is not an Eclipse member company. What's so terribly wrong with that?
Well, it's not open participation within a (putatively) open
organization...that's what's wrong with it.
If you ask me for my personal view, I feel it's perfectly fine for the Foundation to ask organizations that intend to leverage the IWG for marketing, extended market exposure etc. to give something back by becoming an Eclipse member.
I understand that's your personal view. My personal view is that open
organizations don't require payment get participation and contribution.
I also think those things (participation and contribution) should be
considered 'giving something back'.
