Thanks Stephe for the excellent questions on our Governing Principles (to which you already answered :) ). Let me reply below, with my take on the matter. 
  • I take it you differentiate between “no kingmakers” and “don’t reinvent the wheel” by focusing on the difference between internal project discussions (kingmakers) and external project discussions between organizations (reinventing wheels)?
Yes, in addition "no kingmakers" refers to the non-consensus driven approach that we are following: we do not select a project or the other, rather we allow the user to choose, by providing alternatives. Moreover, being non-specifications driven, we are not forced to take decisions in early stages.
  • You’re using “no single stack” (or distro) as a mechanism to allow the most experimentation (code first) across projects without constraining participants? 
Again, you're right. Allowing, by design, overlapping projects we naturally end up with more than one distribution. I imagine the Eclipse SDV WG to offer templates for classes of use cases that the user can modify depending on the specific problem at hand.
