Re: [sdv-wg] [EXTERNAL] Embedded World 2023 - Eclipse SDV presentation

Dear Stephe, dear all,

Thanks Stephe for the excellent questions on our Governing Principles (to which you already answered :) ). Let me reply below, with my take on the matter.
  • I take it you differentiate between “no kingmakers” and “don’t reinvent the wheel” by focusing on the difference between internal project discussions (kingmakers) and external project discussions between organizations (reinventing wheels)?
Yes, in addition "no kingmakers" refers to the non-consensus driven approach that we are following: we do not select a project or the other, rather we allow the user to choose, by providing alternatives. Moreover, being non-specifications driven, we are not forced to take decisions in early stages.
  • You’re using “no single stack” (or distro) as a mechanism to allow the most experimentation (code first) across projects without constraining participants?
Again, you're right. Allowing, by design, overlapping projects we naturally end up with more than one distribution. I imagine the Eclipse SDV WG to offer templates for classes of use cases that the user can modify depending on the specific problem at hand.

@all: If you have any further questions or opinions you'd like to discuss, please keep them coming! We want to foster a Community where our principles and values are discussed openly!
Best,
Sara

Excellent talk – this is why you should be giving the keynotes instead of me :0)

A question (or two) about our Governance Principles:

Have a great weekend.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [sdv-wg] Embedded World 2023 - Eclipse SDV presentation

Dear SDV community,

It's been a pleasure meeting so many of you at our booth at the Embedded World this week.

Our booth has been very busy indeed!

We will share our thoughts about the event soon, but in the meantime please see the presentation I gave at the event here.

Looking forward to meeting you again in our upcoming Community Days, we are preparing quite a packed agenda, you can have a sneak peek here.

Best,

Sara
