Re: [science-iwg] Science at Eclipse Community Day Europe?

Hi Marc,

Thanks for the update. As I am likely there especially for the Jakarta EE WG (being in the Specification Committee at the moment) and if they meet probably also the osBEA WG, assuming there's a good timeslot and interest, would the Science and Research WG (is that new?) members be interested to hear about planned improvements and changes coming with JSR 385
http://unitsofmeasurement.github.io/
https://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=385
Over the current JSR 363 (Unit API 1.0) used at least by the January project and others like SmartHome in IoT or the latest versions of UOMo.

While 2 years ago 363 was already Final when I spoke about it at ECE/Unconference Day, this time we expect a Public Review some time around the planned SI reform confirmation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proposed_redefinition_of_SI_base_units, the vote shall happen at the 26th CGPM in Paris about a month later) and if all goes as planned (also for those reforms) a Final release of JSR 385 in early 2019, ideally before the new SI goes into effect.

So you have a chance to see what we planned and make suggestions that where doable, should also still make it into the Final Release ;-)

Kind Regards,

Werner
