Re: [science-iwg] Next monthly call - Wed 21st February

Hi Ian,

It was an extremely useful exercise last year to focus on potential wg strategies, get feedback from the community and have the resulting discussions around the document Marc pulled together.

As a result we have a lot of potentially useful strategies, but in reality we would need 1 or 2 major stakeholders to be interested in driving these forward. For the latter I sense it is too early for this.

Our continued group strategy is to be a community for open innovation and collaboration around scientific software. We do this well & achieve this in many disparate areas with our diverse projects covering everything from Quantum computing to scripting to visualisation.

Our face-to-face meetings certainly seem to be the best ways in which we progress and spark off new collaborations and build support for new initiatives. With that in mind we will be keen to make these as effective as possible.

Regards,
Tracy

Afternoon Tracy,
has coming up with a working group strategy been formally dropped?

For a month with few items on the agenda, I'd hope a larger block of
time could be given over to Marc to "facilitate" pulling some
strategic aspirations/thoughts out of the major players.

Deep down, it does feel like "face-to-face" is a better way of coming
up with the considered strategy, but face-to-face opportunities are so
infrequent, and, even then we can't expect to get all the major
players there.

Just a thought..

Ian
