I feel it’s quite serious, since it’s hard to detect for the end user and could easily end up in silent data corruption. It’s also not the first time we have a bug in the inlining code. 

Turns out the bug was not so much in the inlining code, but in the use of list shorthand syntax for collections that are not well-formed.  I've managed to find a fix though, it's currently building on Github but locally I have all tests as green. So we can just publish the fix as part of 3.4.1 hopefully :)
