RE: [platform-vcm-dev] does .project need to be checked into the repository

Unfortunately there is more stored in the .project as only the java nature,
ie. other types of project (ruby, python) will have other natures and
builders set. The checkstyle plugin comes with its owner builder and nature.
And so on ...
So while I agree that it isn't really required by Eclipse, it can be very
hard to setup those projects on different systems.
