[platform-dev] newbie question

I would like to write a plug-in which works same as the Navigator. Basically, this view will contain a list of files from various sources in the tree and open the custom editor as user double click on it.

Can I extend from the Navigator plug-in?

Which package or plug-in contains code for the Navigator?

 

Is there any similar example out there?
