Re: [pdt-dev] Future of PDT development
Programmatically? AFAIK, not really. I believe that Marketplace has some Web apis, so you can query the content and so on, but most people use Marketplace via either the web site UI or the Marketplace client contained in all of the packages except Classic. But including your plugins in Marketplace definitely increases the ease with which your users can find and install them. Dragging a link to a plugin on the Marketplace website and dropping it on your Eclipse workbench to install it is pretty cool.
I can't think of any reason why Marketplace could not be used in your experimental phase. We don't QA or certify the plugins there. The only thing we will do is stop installing a plugin that has numerous and continuous install failures. (I don't recall the thresholds.)
Of course, another topic would be resurrecting the PHP package to make it easier for developers to get started wi
Hope that helps.

Is there a way to find/install programatically from eclipse marketplace?
There may be the following scenario: One installs three plugins and facets and shares the pdt project it in svn/git. Another one is checking out. Now pdt (the builder ?) must be that clever to re-install the facet from marktplace.
Of course marketplace would be a good solution too. It is available and it is some kind of standard for all eclipse users. I am hoping the marketplace can be used as long as we are in experimental stage :)
