The thread " Re: Need Help: what is the best approach to remove some UML elements from palettes/menus?” contains an interesting comment on the difference on ease of customization between Sparx Enterprise Architect and Papyrus, and highlights how easier it is to define profiles and then switch the rest of the environment based on this.

The context here is in academia and the goal of the approach is likely different than the production of industrial-level, domain-specific tools, but the ease of use cannot be immediately discarded.
Still, an interesting approach and possibly something to be discussed in the next Product Management Committee meeting - and something that may be of interest to the Research and Academia committee.
