I'm happy to announce that the Maven Shell (a maven distro surrounded with a shell plus a bunch of goodies) is embedding p2 in order to update itself but also install other applications.

For the curious, Maven shell is not an OSGi application but it actually embeds Equinox as an implementation detail to run p2.
