Ok, I have indicated interest in mentoring this project in the GSOC system.

For any of you who are registered mentors and are thus capable of scoring a proposal....

I wanted to point out that one possible angle here is to solve the "how do I remember my favorite tools and one-click install them into a fresh download?"
Some of the arguments discussed in the infamous "extension location bug" [1] which separated install function from location on disk have some good requirements in this space.

Hi, Isuru.
I've looked at your proposal (as well as your blog, etc.).  
I think the proposal is as complete as one can imagine the project going right now.    I can imagine that the iterations past the first one in your plan could take on some interesting dimensions.  For example, we may find that there are improvements you want to make that could benefit all of the existing p2 UI's, or we may want to explore other technologies as I mentioned before (e4).  It will be important to set particular goals for the follow-on iterations. 

I have not mentored a GSOC student before, so I've just submitted the application to become a mentor.  I'm not sure how long it will take for the approval to come through, but as soon as it does, I will follow through with whatever the rest of the process is for declaring interest in mentoring...

There are some discussions going on the eclipse soc-dev mailing list regarding the mentor allocations for projects. Ahti Kitsik has reviewed my proposal and asking me for a possible mentor for the project. Please have a look at my proposal and make necessary arrangements to assign the mentor this project.
