Jakarta Webservices
- TCK updates continuing
- Nearly ready now that the larger spec items are resolved
- Bugs raised against the impl
- Specification tidy up items raised at the same time
Typed Events
- TCK development has stalled (more than a year with no progress)
- Data in Motion (Guido) stepping in so the specification can be completed
Feature Launcher - no update at this time
AOB
Dirk is looking for a home for an open source implementation
- An ECF Remote services provider plugin, based on Jakarta REST
- Already working, needs a home
- ECF not immediately willing to accept due to low capacity for work
- OSGi technology might be a good fit
- General consensus that this could work
- Dirk to send a request to osgi-dev to allow for wider feedback before we go ahead
Tom talks us through Plurl - a utility for handling multiple URL stream handlers
- Useful across the Java ecosystem for managing URL handlers
- API can be kept totally clean of any dependencies to maximise likelihood of adoption
- Could be hosted in OSGi technology
- Probably not yet ready to define as a utility chapter in the specification
- General support for this as a place to host the API and an implementation
